Personal empowerment is becoming increasingly important in local, unseen communities. Discriminatory and oppressive systems leave local communities with limited access to resources, systemic exclusion, and a sense of voicelessness in determining their own path forward. This becomes a core problem as empowered community members are the foundation for any systemic change or any long lasting community impact.
solution
We can give community members the means to gain self-awareness, confidence, and growth through training that enables them to assess their circumstances, design strategies, and take purposeful action in order to meet the needs of their community. This can open the door to resolving issues and bringing about meaningful transformation to their own lives and the lives of those around them. Additionally, when people tap into their own power, it generates a positive response, motivating others to take action.
Our Promotoras are empowered as leaders through a comprehensive education and leadership development process to provide access to vital services to the communities we serve. The training process includes content in personal growth, neurolinguistics and community psychology to ensure that the quality of attention they provide to the population is of high standard, appropriate to their level of understanding

Mental health is an important issue for all people, but it is particularly important for men in the US. In recent years, there has been an increasing focus on the mental health needs of men, as men are more likely to die by suicide than women, and are less likely to seek out help for mental health problems.
Historically, men have been discouraged from expressing their feelings or talking openly about mental health. This tendency can lead to increased stress and depression. Talking about and treating mental health issues can reduce feelings of shame or weakness and have a positive effect on overall health.
In addition, the presence of male role models who are open about their own struggles with mental health can help break down the stigma associated with seeking treatment.

Recognizing and tackling mental health concerns can boost the wellbeing of men in our community and aid them in leading prosperous and meaningful lives.
We are currently working on a project that involves dispatching male promotores to visit men in their workplace so that they have a safe space for open conversations, on-site medical assistance, and access to mental health professionals.

Household violence is a serious problem that includes physical, sexual, psychological, and financial abuse, involving both adults and children. It can occur between family members, romantic partners, and roommates.
The consequences of household violence can be serious. It can affect physical and mental health, well-being, relationships, and it can put victims in danger of homelessness, poverty, substance use, and other risks.

The lack of emotional palliative care in the US Latinx community is a serious and growing public health problem that has an increasingly negative impact on individuals who are struggling with terminal or chronic illness. Emotional palliative care is an essential component of end-of-life care, as it helps individuals to manage difficult emotions, gain insight into their circumstances, and cope with the associated feelings of grief, fear, and anxiety. Unfortunately, in the United States, Latinos are often under-served when it comes to palliative care.
The lack of access to emotional palliative care has a serious impact on the patient’s quality of life and has been linked to a number of adverse effects, including increased stress, anxiety, depression, and insomnia. Furthermore, research has also suggested that it can lead to a disconnect between patient and family, feelings of anger, guilt, and despair, reduced quality of life, and an increased likelihood of premature death.
The Latinx community is less likely to have access to palliative care services and the usage of these services is lower among this population than the general US population. Language barriers, lack of knowledge and access to providers, and limited health insurance coverage all contribute to the problem.

Our goal is to offer emotional care to people in their terminal stages of life by a promotora trained in LatinX’s very own methodology as well as the “Hard Coherence Map” , Palliative Care (along essential medical care knowledge such as practicing CPR or standard protocol when someone passes away) and Thanatology training. The project’s proposal is for the person transitioning its final steps and their close family and friends.

Affordable housing has become an increasingly pressing issue for the Latinx immigrant community in the United States. Even though most immigrants come to America seeking economic and educational opportunities, the high cost of living and lack of entry-level job opportunities often make it difficult for the Latinx immigrant community to access decent and affordable housing.
Long-standing discriminatory housing policies have further excluded low-income communities, like those of the Latinx immigrant population from the housing market. This has led to an overrepresentation of the Latinx immigrant community in non-traditional forms of housing, such as overcrowded living situations or informal housing arrangements.
